It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Deputy Chief Tony Rolfes. Tony was an incredible man for those of you who did not have the privilege of meeting him. He was a strong Union man and Past President of Mehlville Firefighters Local 1889. He was a terrific firefighter and a "Firefighters Deputy" as he never was afraid to get his hands dirty or help with the task at hand.

Chief Hendricks was gracious enough to allow the on duty personnel Thursday to go to a morning visitation. Details of the events planned for the day of his service and Internment (Thursday) will follow. No honor guard requested.

Tony will be missed by everyone and please keep the entire Rolfes family in your prayers.

Death of Steve Grimes

It is with great sadness that we advise you of the death of Fenton fire Captain Steve Grimes. He was a great man who lost his courageous battle with leukemia today. Capt. Steve Grimes of the Fenton Fire District may be physically gone but he will always be watching over us as we do the job he loved. R.I.P. Steve.

16^th BENEFIT GOLF TOURNAMENT

JUNE 24^th, Columbia Golf Club, Columbia IL

April 20, 2011

Dear Friend and Supporter,

On Friday June 24, 2011, Mehlville Firefighters IAFF Local 1889 will hold our 16^th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament at Columbia Golf Club located in Columbia, Illionois. Registration is at 8:00 AM with a shot gun start at 9:00 AM. This year’s cost is $80.00 per golfer which includes: your golf, doughnuts and coffee breakfast, beer and soda, BBQ lunch and buffet dinner following the tournament.

Over the past fifteen years, our tournaments have raised more than $85,000 for charities in the metro area. Some of those organizations include the Boy’s Club of St. Louis, Children’s Burn Camp, Feed My People, Lemay Meals on Wheels, MDA and Nurse’s for Newborns. We also make donations to local high schools in our District (Lindbergh, Mehlville and Oakville), to help with their school sponsored Prom and Graduation celebrations.

Gifts to be used as attendance prizes, items for our silent auction and raffle and hole sponsorships are the key to our success. The enclosed sheets detail the ways you can help us with these programs.

So get your team together and return your entry form with payment as soon as possible. The tournament is filled on a first come first enter process, and entry is limited to the first 36 teams.
